||Art and film fused at the Whitechapel Galleryís unmissable TODíS Art Plus Film Party 2008 on 6 March.
The Whitechapelís Art Plus celebrates the flashpoints of art and other cultural
forms in an exceptional one-off event. The Whitechapelís Director, Iwona Blazwick, President and CEO of the TODíS Group, Diego Della Valle along with the committee of leading figures from the arts, fashion, film and music, welcomed guests to an extraordinary evening of live performance, film and music to raise funds for the Whitechapelís Expansion and Education programme.
Having received invitations by fashion designer Henry Holland, VIP guests entered the dramatic setting of a former church in One Marylebone Road, London NW1, to a classical music DJ set by Neil Tennant (Pet Shop Boys) wearing TODíS loafers.
Brazilian musician Cibelle took to the stage to perform tracks form her critically acclaimed album, The Shine of Dried Electric Leaves, followed by the world premiere of leading international artist Christian Marclayís brand new film, Solo.
Art Plus Chairs Mollie Dent-Brocklehurst carrying a TODíS champagne pochette and Jade Jagger, wearing specially made TODís carine wedge heels in gold leather and a dress from her own label, Jezebel, joined glamorous guests including, Agyness Deyn, Julian McDonald, Will Young, Dan Macmillan and Margo Stilley enjoyed a Laurent-Perrier champagne reception, and sipped on Snow Queen vodka cocktails and Tanqueray and tonic. A special contemporary Italian menu inspired by TODíS was created by event designers Urban Caprice and saw guests nibbling on grissini & prosciutto, aranchini milanese, fritto misto and fennel, burrata and pea shoot involtini, all finished off with heavenly cakes courtesy of Sketch.
A stellar line-up of DJs Andrew Weatherall, Rob Marmot and Sam Young really got the party started with live sets, while Mourad Mazouz of Sketch and David Dorrell created the soundtrack for the lounge bar, which was filled with a glamorous montage of art scenes from classic Hollywood movies created by Sarah Wood.
Guests started competitive bidding wars to buy specially commissioned artworks by leading artists in a silent interactive auction including David Batchelor, Jonathan Monk, Simon Periton, Conrad Shawcross, Jamie Shovlin, Daniel Sinsel, alongside a customised TODíS D-Bag by artist Jim Lambie and the Fender Stratocaster guitar featured in Christianís Marclayís film, signed by the artist.
The TODís Art Plus Film Party 2008 generated £112,000 of vital funds for the Whitechapelís Expansion Project and Education programme.
